Yogi Bear made his debut in 1958 as a supporting character. In 1961 he was given his own show. Yogi's success led to a 1961 comic strip that was syndicated in more than 100 newspapers nationwide, and in 1964 he became the first of the Hanna-Barbera characters to appear in a full-length theatrical production. During the 1980s and 90's Yogi even managed a few comebacks in new cartoons that dealt with current issues. He usually greets the ranger with a cordial, "Hello, Mr. Ranger, sir!" He also likes to say, "Hey, Boo Boo!" as his preferred greeting to his humbler sidekick.
