Franklin is a Canadian children's television series, based on books by Brenda Clark (illustrator) and Paulette Bourgeois (writer). First series – November, 1997. Franklin is a young turtle, his stories begin “..could count by twos and tie his shoes”. He enjoys playing with his friends, attends school and has many adventures, he and his parents live in a small village known as Woodland. The village is small and all residents know one another. Franklin the turtle likes swimming, drawing, crafts and playing a number of sports and games. The sports seen most often are baseball, soccer and hockey. Basketball is also seen. Baseball is seen more often in earlier seasons. Hockey and soccer are favored in the program's more recent offerings.
