In his attempts to catch Jerry, Tom often has to deal with the intrusions of Butch (scruffy black alley cat) who wants to catch and eat Jerry, and Spike, an angry, vicious guard bulldog who tries to attack Tom for bothering his son Tyke while trying to get Jerry.
